Soyeon to Release First Solo Full Album 'The Awesome Life' on Sept. 7
TL;DR (G)I-DLE leader Soyeon will release her first full-length solo album 'The Awesome Life' on September 7.

Compared to her playful 2021 solo EP 'Windy', (G)I-DLE leader Soyeon returns to the center stage with her first full-length solo album, titled 'What a Wonderful Life' (also referred to as 'The Awesome Life'). Agency Cube Entertainment announced that the project will be officially released on September 7 at 6 p.m., marking her return as a solo artist after more than five years. The new album consists of eight tracks spanning diverse genres such as rock, hyperpop, and disco, with Soyeon credited as a co-writer and co-composer on every track.

Built around the theme of leaving a job, the album's lead track roughly translates to 'I'm Quitting My Job' and pairs a band-led sound with lyrics about resigning from work, a subject the agency noted 'any office worker can relate to.' The track also features narration by cartoonist and TV celebrity Kian84. In a press release distributed by her label, Soyeon shared that the lead track is meant to remind listeners that although a stable future is important, they should prioritize being happy 'in this very moment.'

Coinciding with Soyeon’s birthday on the 25th as she turns 29, Cube Entertainment previously released an intro film on the group’s official social media channels at midnight. The retrospective video chronicles major moments in her life in sequence, tracing her journey from her first birthday party and trainee days through her appearance on Mnet’s 'Produce 101', (G)I-DLE's debut, and her subsequent career as a producer. Short phrases such as "I always wanted to be new" and "I wanted to do better" appear throughout the video as she prepares her solo comeback, highlighting her drive to explore new music and push past her limits. Reflecting on the milestone, Soyeon noted that she had postponed making a full-length album for a long time, sharing that looking back on it someday, "I think I’ll say, ‘Ah, it was really romantic.’"

This release follows her mainstream catalog triumphs with (G)I-DLE hits like 'Tomboy', 'Nxde', and 'Queencard'. Soyeon has also solidified her industry credentials by becoming a full member of the Korea Music Copyright Association while expanding her creative reach through the producer alias Icebluerabbit and global collaborations with artists like Anderson .Paak. Promotional stages and teasers have already generated momentum ahead of the launch. Following an appearance on 'The EBS Space', Soyeon performed at the Waterbomb Sokcho festival, where she previewed two unreleased tracks: the intense electronic dance music track 'STAR' and the playful 'I Hate Vegetables Song'. She later released the music video for 'I Hate Vegetables Song' on her YouTube channel, 'Soyeon’s Girlhood Encyclopedia', alongside the 'STAR' music video on (G)I-DLE’s official social media channels.
