K-POP WAVE ("we", "us") operates the websitekpophub.io. This page describes what we collect, how long we keep it, and how you can remove it. We practice data minimization — we collect only what the service needs to function.

Information We Collect

  • Account: if you sign in with Google, we store the email address, display name, and avatar Google provides. We do not store passwords (there is no email/password sign-up).
  • Activity you create: artists/topics you follow, articles you save, and reactions you leave — linked to your account.
  • Anonymous reactions: if you react without signing in, we set a first-party cookie (kpop_sid) with a random ID so a reaction isn't counted twice. It contains no personal information.
  • Newsletter: the email address you submit to subscribe. We use double opt-in — you must confirm via a link we email you.
  • Analytics: aggregate usage via Google Analytics — only if you accept analytics cookies in our consent banner; it stays off otherwise. IP addresses are used transiently for spam/rate-limit protection and are not stored in our database.
  • Advertising: we show ads through Google AdSense, which may use cookies to personalize ads, limit how often you see them, and detect fraud. If you are in the EEA, UK, or Switzerland, we ask for your consent first through Google's consent message, where you can decline or choose non-personalized ads.

How We Use Your Information

To provide and improve the service, send newsletters you confirmed, and personalize your experience (followed artists, saved articles).

Data Retention

  • Account data: kept until you delete your account.
  • Newsletter: kept while subscribed; after you unsubscribe, we remove the address within 90 days.
  • Security/audit logs: kept up to 180 days.

Deleting Your Account

You can delete your account at any time from your Account page. This permanently removes your account and all associated data — follows, saved articles, reactions, and any newsletter subscription tied to your email — and cannot be undone.

Cookies & Consent

  • Essential (no consent needed, the site cannot work without them): authentication cookies, the anonymous reaction cookie (kpop_sid), and your stored cookie choice/theme.
  • Analytics (consent required): Google Analytics cookies (_ga) are set only after you choose "Accept analytics" in the consent banner. You can change your mind anytime via Cookie Preferences in the footer — withdrawing consent stops analytics and removes its cookies.
  • Advertising: Google AdSense may set cookies such as __gads and __gpi to serve and personalize ads, cap how often you see them, and detect fraud. For users in the EEA, UK, and Switzerland, ad consent is collected through Google's certified consent message, where you can withdraw or change it. Outside those regions, ads may be personalized by default.

Children

K-POP WAVE accounts, comments, and newsletters are for users aged 14 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 14; if you believe we hold such data, contact us and we will delete it.
